How Families Have Used Our Programmes
Three brief accounts of how different families approached their legacy and records challenges.
A Three-Generation Family with Stories at Risk of Being Lost
The Situation
An elderly grandmother had a rich personal history — growing up in Chiang Mai, moving to Bangkok in the 1960s, building a small business across four decades. The family knew the stories existed but had never recorded them, and her health was beginning to decline.
What We Did
We ran a half-day storytelling workshop with three generations present. Using structured prompts, we guided conversation through key periods of her life, with family members adding their own memories alongside hers. A recording guide was used to capture the session.
What the Family Has Now
A formatted keepsake document covering four decades of family history, a set of audio recordings, and a template they have continued to use to capture further conversations. Several family members described the day as one of the most meaningful things they had done together.
A Business Owner with Decades of Unsorted Documents
The Situation
A retired business owner had accumulated thirty years of documents across several locations — some physical, some digital, some in Thai and some in English. His adult children had no clear picture of what existed or where it was held.
What We Did
Two working sessions with our records specialist, beginning with a full inventory of document types. We applied a filing structure suited to the mix of Thai and English materials, and helped him categorise documents by type and importance. All originals remained with him throughout.
The Outcome
A complete index of document categories, a physical and digital filing structure, and an upkeep checklist. His children reported feeling significantly more prepared. No legal or financial interpretation was provided at any point.
A Family with Unspoken Disagreements About the Future
The Situation
Two adult siblings had very different expectations about how their parents' affairs should be arranged. The topic had never been discussed openly, and attempts to raise it had ended in tension. Their parents wanted clarity but were reluctant to cause further friction.
What We Did
We ran the Succession Literacy programme with all four family members over six weeks. The educational modules gave everyone shared vocabulary. Facilitated sessions created space for each person to express their expectations without being interrupted or dismissed.
What Changed
The family reached a shared understanding of what conversations still needed to happen with appropriate professional advisers. They also noted that the process itself had reduced general tension. Ongoing group access has kept the conversation open.
